Responsibilities
- Staff & volunteers: All team members and partners must complete safeguarding training, agree to our Code of Conduct, and undergo appropriate background checks.
- Leadership: HELGA leadership ensures safe recruitment, provides ongoing training, and enforces reporting and response procedures.
- Community: We work with parents, schools and local authorities to create safe environments for children and young people.
Reporting a Concern
If you witness or suspect abuse, exploitation or any safeguarding concern, please report it immediately using one of the options below. Do not delay if someone is at immediate risk.

- Emergency: Contact local authorities or emergency services if a child is in immediate danger.
How Reports Are Handled
- All reports are recorded and assessed promptly.
- Where required, allegations are referred to relevant local authorities and child protection agencies.
- We will take appropriate action to protect individuals while ensuring fair and confidential handling of any investigation.
Prevention & Safeguarding Measures
- Regular safeguarding training for staff, volunteers and partners.
- Clear Code of Conduct and safe recruitment checks for all personnel.
- Risk assessments for activities, programs, and events involving children and young people.
- Safe communications policy for online and offline interactions.
